Stay Safe! Course

Learn how to be safe and responsible while on your own with the Canadian Red Cross Stay Safe! Course. This certification program prepares children ages 9-13 to be home alone with confidence.

Students learn critical safety skills, including emergency procedures, basic first aid, to be mindful around strangers, and how to handle unexpected situations. The course gives kids the knowledge they need and parents the peace of mind they deserve.

  • The importance of responsibility and respect while being accountable for yourself
  • The importance of setting and following rules when on your own
  • How to feel secure at home and within the community
  • How to prepare for, recognize and respond to unexpected situations (e.g., inclement weather, strangers, and unanticipated visits)
  • Basic first aid skills
