FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

How many children are in the swim classes?

Classes with children under the age of 5 are a 2:1 ratio.

Classes for children 5 and up are 3:1 ratio.

At what age can my child start swim lessons?

We recommend that your child have head control before starting a parent and tot class, usually at 3 to 6 months. At 2 years old a child may start the preschool program without a parent in a 2:1 ratio.

How long are the classes at Swim Time?

Day time classes are 30 minutes.

Evening and weekend classes are 45 minutes.

How warm is your pool?

Our pools are kept at 86-88 degrees.

Can all my children have classes at the same time?

Yes, we will do our best to ensure that all family members are enrolled in swim classes at the same time.

Can I request an instructor?

Yes, we will do our best to accomodate instructor requests. However, if that instructor is not available, Swim Time will choose an instructor with a similar teaching style to the instructor that you requested.

What types of payment do you accept?

We accept e-transfer, debit, cash, Visa and Mastercard.

What if I need to cancel a swim session that I already registered for?

Cancellation prior to the start of a session results in a loss of deposit. Once the session begins all cancellations must be for medical reasons only & be submitted to the office in writing. There are NO REFUNDS. A credit for the remaining classes less a $50 cancellation fee will be applied to your Swim Time account. Credits are non-transferable.

Students that currently complete the last level of the dolphin program and pre-register for the next session have the flexibility to apply the deposit to an advanced course or keep it as a credit for future use. There are no refunds.

Is there a discount for more than one child?

Yes, we offer one of the following discounts for every family:

  • 2 enrollments = $10 off each
  • 3 or more enrollments = $50 off each

Can I change a class after I’ve already registered?

Yes, you can change to a different day or time if there is space available. A $35 change fee will apply per child. Simply access your customer portal or Swim Time app to submit a transfer.

Do you allow make-up classes if I miss a class?

Each person is entitled to one make up per session.  Dates will be set one week after the start of each session.  The make-up class can be booked after the regular scheduled class has officially been missed.  Instructor requests for make-ups are not permitted.  Absenteeism for any make-up will result in a lost class (there are no make-ups for a make-up). Make-up classes are not offered for the march break program.

After missing your regularly scheduled swim class, a make-up can be booked online through the customer portal.  Account / Students / Makeup  Each swimmer is entitled to one make-up class.

What happens if Swim Time has to cancel a class?

Occasionally, Swim Time may have to close for reasons such as weather, pool fouling or mechanical issues. We will do our best to notify all customers as soon as possible. A make-up class will be issued to all students for the current session.

Do you have separate changerooms?

CHANGE ROOMS (Thornhill and Woodbridge): There are 3 changerooms (Boys, Girls, & Family) available for use at our facilities. Do not leave any valuables in the change rooms. Swim Time accepts no responsibility for lost or stolen items. Cell phones are prohibited in the change rooms. Please keep showers to a maximum of 5 minutes.

CHANGE ROOMS (Pickering and Whitby): Everyone must use the Family change room. Do not leave any valuables in the changerooms. Change areas and showers are to be used on a first-come-first-serve basis as children enter the changeroom. Swim Time reserves the right to assign change areas to maximize flow and minimize congestion throughout the facility. Swim Time accepts no responsibility for lost or stolen items. Cell phones are prohibited in the change rooms. Please keep showers to a maximum of 5 minutes.

Why should I choose Swim Time instead of my community centre?

Swim Time offers lower ratios, warmer water. Swim Time feels each student is an individual and we will work with each one to achieve their goals.

How do I register?

To register, access the customer portal online or in our app (all links are below) and log in to your account.   Once you have logged in, click register and select the classes that you would like to enroll your child in at their current level. If your child meets the age/skill requirements of the class, you will automatically be approved, and a non-refundable deposit will be charged at checkout. Currently a $50 deposit is required upon registration, starting Fall 2024 the deposit will be $100. This change will be effective for all registrations made for the Fall 2024 session and beyond.

However, if your child does not meet the pre-set class requirements, it will be submitted to our office as a request for us to review.  When your request has been approved you will receive an email and will have 48 hours to complete the registration by paying the deposit in your customer portal.
