FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

How many children are in the swim classes?

Classes with children under the age of 5 are a 2:1 ratio.

Classes for children 5 and up are 3:1 ratio.

At what age can my child start swim lessons?

We recommend that your child have head control before starting a parent and tot class, usually at 3 to 6 months. At 2 years old a child may start the preschool program without a parent in a 2:1 ratio.

How long are the classes at Swim Time?

Day time classes are 30 minutes.

Evening and weekend classes are 45 minutes.

How warm is your pool and is it a salt water pool?

Our Thornhill and Woodbridge pools are kept at 86-88 degrees and they are salt water. Our Pickering and Whitby pools are chlorine based.

Can all my children have classes at the same time?

Yes, we will do our best to ensure that all family members are enrolled in swim classes at the same time.

Can I request an instructor?

Yes, we will do our best to accomodate instructor requests. However, if that instructor is not available, Swim Time will choose an instructor with a similar teaching style to the instructor that you requested.

What types of payment do you accept?

We accept e-transfer, debit, cash, Visa and Mastercard.

What if I need to cancel a swim session that I already registered for?

There are NO refunds.

All cancellations must be submitted in writing via email. Cancellations prior to the start of the session will result in the loss of your deposit. Once the session has commenced THERE ARE NO REFUNDS. There are no same day notifications for cancelled classes however a credit note will be calculated from the next scheduled class forward.  A $50 cancellation fee will be applied to all credit notes.  All credit notes are valid indefinitely.  In the event of closure for any reason including, but not limited to, inclement weather, order of closure by governmental authority or mechanical issues, Swim Time will make its best effort to schedule a make-up class or credit the family file.  THERE ARE NO REFUNDS, a credit will be issued and stay on file indefinitely.

Is there a discount for more than one child?

Yes, we offer one of the following discounts for every family:

  • If you are registering two children, there is a $20 discount for the second child.
  • If you are registering three or more children, we offer 15% off the total cost.

Can I change a class after I’ve already registered?

Yes, you can always change to a different day or time if there is space available. A $25 change fee will apply per child.

Do you allow make-up classes if I miss a class?

Each person is entitled to one make up per session.  Dates will be set one week after the start of each session.  The make-up class can be booked after the regular scheduled class has officially been missed.  Instructor requests for make-ups are not permitted.  Absenteeism for any make-up will result in a lost class (there are no make-ups for a make-up). Make-up classes are not offered for the march break program.

What happens if Swim Time has to cancel a class?

Occasionally, Swim Time may have to close for reasons such as weather, pool fouling or mechanical issues. We will do our best to notify all customers as soon as possible. A make-up class will be issued to all students for the current session.

Do you have separate changerooms?

Please arrive ready to swim in a bathing suit. Changerooms will be open for use after class.  Each family will be assigned a change room for us to abide by social distancing guidelines. Showers are available; however, we encourage everyone to shower at home before and after lessons.

Why should I choose Swim Time instead of my community centre?

Swim Time offers lower ratios, warmer water. Swim Time feels each student is an individual and we will work with each one to achieve their goals.
